Spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘Let’s party!’ – Robin Williams

Congratulations on selecting your Spring wedding date. For many people, the March thru May months can be a magical time of year with crisp mornings, bright colors, end of cabin fever, and life blooming all around. This is why my husband and I chose a springtime wedding as well. We loved the season. My husband and I got married in April. Admittedly, we were lucky that year as it only rained one weekend in April … and it wasn’t our wedding day 😊. It was a little chilly since we had an evening wedding, however rain did not hinder our outdoor post wedding photos. Happy planning and wishing you a celebratory wedding day!
Plan early and expect some stress as your date approaches. The trick is to mitigate as much of that stress as possible by staying on top of your deadlines. When January rolls around, the year will seem to go by at warp speed. You’ll be happy that you were organized. Below are top five pointers that should help your planning:
- The joy of the springtime is that flowers begin to bloom, and there is more daylight to enjoy. Below is a list of some typical Spring Wedding Flowers to consider for your big day
- Peonies
- Tulips
- Daffodils
- Hyacinths
- Orchids
- Gardenia
- Cherry Blossoms
- Hydrangeas
- Queen Anne’s Lace
- Roses
- Stephanotis
- Lily of the Valley
- Daisies
- Ranunculus
If your favorite flower is not in bloom or too expensive consider silk or other artificial flower alternatives.
- Wedding colors for Spring weddings are fun and vibrant, here is a list of some typical Spring Wedding Colors
- Pastels (i.e. Lavender, Rose/Pink, Peach, Olive, Periwinkle, etc…)
- Jewel tones – such as birthstones
- Floral blend
- Grey color mix combo
- Blue color mix combo
- Citrus colors
- For Spring, you can let your imagination run wild for wedding themes and decor, here are some common wedding theme/decor options for a Spring Wedding
- Garden Party
- Tea Party
- Woodland/Rustic
- Spanish Romance
- Jewel Tones
- Mountain Centric
- Minimalist
- Geometric
- Greenery/Floral patterned
- Spring Showers
- Butterfly/Birds
- Fruit and Flower combinations
- In the Spring, lighter foods tend to be a good choice which allows for creative expression of your favorites in a non-traditional form. Below are a few food & drink options to consider.
- Food theme stations with popular finger foods (i.e. sandwiches, chicken, pizza, etc…)
- Food assembly station (i.e. salad bars, taco stations, cheese/meat assortment, creative custom creations, etc…)
- Buffets
- Veggie displays
- Spring drink specialties such as citrus, other seasonal fruits that are floral, colorful, etc.
- Don’t forget the dessert assortment table (this is my favorite – I have a major sweet tooth)
- The unknowns to prepare for:
- Weather –
- Be sure to have a plan B to account for the change in weather conditions (i.e. wind, mud, rain, sunshine, etc..)
- Consider having provisions for your guest to help with weather conditions (i.e. rain, heat, bugs, allergies, etc…)
- Consider having rain gear as a part of the wedding party’s attire
- Be sure to discuss equipment protection with vendors for weather conditions incidents – such as stages, music or photo equipment to prevent a surprise liability cost.
- Wedding crashers & photo bombers – If you are outdoors in an open area, you may get onlookers around your festivities. Find a way to isolate your area and ensure privacy that you desire for the event, photos and guest comfort.
- Holiday weekend weddings – It might be helpful to have a resource or two available if you are planning a wedding during the holiday weekend since this is a busy time. Some guests might get frustrated or confused more easily, so consider having a designated travel agent or hotel representative to work with guests. You can also consider delegating this to very responsible/knowledgeable wedding party member.
- Weather –
I hope these tips are useful for your upcoming wedding. Enjoy the planning process and don’t let the stress keep you from appreciating the special moments leading up to your special day.
