“Autumn leaves are falling, filling up the streets; golden colors on the lawn, nature’s trick or treat.” – Rusty Fischer
Congratulations on selecting your Fall/Autumn wedding date. For many people, the September thru November months can be a magical time of year with crisp mornings and bright Fall colors. This season is becoming more popular than before for wedding season. This is especially true in September because the weather can still be pleasant enough for outdoor events.
Below are five pointers that can help your planning:

- Dessert assortment table (my personal favorite)
- Be creative. Consider including fall/autumn favorites cobblers, pies, doughnuts, beignets, bread pudding, cookies, apple fritters, shortbread, truffles, etc…
5. As Murphy’s law has taught us, anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Here are a few things you might want to consider to be prepared for in case things don’t go exactly to plan:
- Weather –
- Be sure to have a plan B to account for the change in weather conditions (i.e. cold, wind, rain, snow, etc…)
- Consider having provisions for your guests to help with weather conditions [i.e. rain, cold (heat lamps/fire pit/blankets/cover-ups), snow, etc…]
- Be aware of the sun position/high visibility and longer dark hours at venue or photo op locations
- Holiday weekend weddings –
- It might be helpful to have a resource or two available if you are planning a wedding during the holiday weekend since this is a busy time.
- Some guests might get frustrated or confused more easily, so consider having a designated travel agent or hotel representative to work with guests.
- Or consider delegating this to very responsible/knowledgeable wedding party member.
I hope these tips are useful for your upcoming wedding. Enjoy the planning process and don’t let the stress keep you from appreciating the special moments leading up to your special day.
